Learning Resource Centre
The learning resource centre provides a vibrant and welcoming learning environment for students and staff. It plays a key role in learning and teaching by providing resources to support the curriculum, and aims to encourage both the skills required to become independent, lifelong learners and inspire a love of reading for pleasure.
Resources and Facilities
Resources include fiction and non-fiction books, DVDs, foreign-language texts, posters and reference materials.
Study space is available for individual and group work, along with computer access to enable students to carry out research or complete their homework.
Colourful displays advertise library resources, clubs, events and information.

After school clubs: Homework club runs every day after school:
- Board Game Club: Monday – 3.05pm-4.00pm
- Homework Club: Wednesday – 3.05 – 3.30pm
Special events
Various themed craft and book night events take place throughout the year as well as yearly all school initiatives like World Book Day and the Readathon. Many of these events are run by our Student Librarians.
Accelerated reader
All Year 7 and Year 8 students participate in the Accelerated Reader programme which encourages and challenges them to read a wide range of fiction and non-fiction books. Personalised reading targets are set after an initial reading test and then students read their books and take online quizzes. Points are rewarded and students work in house teams to win prizes.
